Developing Future Talent in Welding

April 14, 2025 By ESAB Corporation

ESAB executive leader Curtis Jewell was thrilled to join The Collab-Orators and Welder Underground’s talented apprentices in Brooklyn, New York to celebrate the official unveiling of the Rappin’ Max Robot sculpture, which will eventually be given as a gift from New York City, the home of Hip Hop, to the city of Paris to commemorate the first Olympics to feature breaking as a sport.

This larger-than-life project shines a light on the hard work and dedication from aspiring fabricators and welders while paying homage to the communities and artists that are inspiring innovation and teaching the next generation of welders. ESAB was proud to support the project with product donations from our fabrication portfolio.

Jewell was instrumental in bringing the partnership to ESAB.

We always believe in the opportunities to partner with organizations that are focused on developing the future talent in welding space. The work that this organization does to help kids from under privileged backgrounds is transformational. They have created a new way of learning; seeing a new way of bringing things to life. It is about making things possible, and this resonated with us. The event brought different communities together with the goal of creating something transformational. It has had a true impact on the community. Everyone was celebrating what the apprentice accomplished. It showcases the power of this type of program.

Shaping the world we imagine. Without limits.
